Grand Central Station

Poem by Jan Michael Alejandro
from the book " What's Mine Is Now Yours"

The beat in Grand Central Terminal
Is bouncing off the walls
and the vaulted ceilings

It’s New York City under one roof
Gold‐plated chandeliers
shower the people

They are running frantic,
walking and talking, and rolling across the main concourse.
Hugs and kisses in the Kissing Room
Sitting on the West Side Grand staircase
Whispering in the Whispering Gallery

The street musician playing his guitar through a Pignose
Is no longer there.
Now boarding on track thirty two
